This is an unpaid and non-equity production. Please bring a recent photo of yourself that we may keep, your resume (if you have one), and the attached audition form. Be prepared to list all conflicts you will have in January and February, 2020. Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings and some Saturday mornings (as necessary) You will not all be required at every rehearsal.
An understudy will be cast for each speaking role. The understudy will perform as a member of the ensemble unless needed for the principal/supporting role. All dancers must have high endurance as some dance numbers are to be performed sequentially. Lastly, All cast members will have responsibilities that include scene changes and general backstage assistance.
CHARACTERS– ages listed are simply guidelines.
Jada (mid 20s and up): a troubled woman that learns and gains a sincere appreciation for the reason for the cross. Dancer MUST have strong acting AND dance skills. Liturgical, jazz, and/or contemporary training a plus, but not required.
Jesus (late 20s – early 30s): Man with strong acting AND dance skills.
Friend/Neighbor #1:* man or woman with strong dance skill that can act.
Friend/Neighbor #2:* man or woman with strong dance skill that can act.
Friend/Neighbor #3:* man or woman with strong dance skill that can act.
Guard #1:* man or woman. Member of the ensemble with a minimal speaking role.
Ensemble – 10-12 men and women (ages 13+) dancers that will perform choreographed group numbers with no or minimal speaking roles.
*Supporting cast will dance with the ensemble when not in character
